Description of the park

Introduction

VTP Brno, a.s., as a science and technology park (Kongresák.space), is located in the Brno Exhibition Centre and is primarily intended for startups, innovative companies, experts, and other actors in the innovation ecosystem with potential in SMART technologies and digital innovation. The park provides modern coworking, office, and conference spaces, combining a business incubator with a community and networking environment.

Our main goal is to create conditions for the development of innovative entrepreneurship, support collaboration between companies, experts, and educational institutions, and facilitate the implementation of research and innovation results into practice. Within Kongresák.space, we provide advisory services in technology transfer, support for pilot projects and technology demonstrations, organize conferences, workshops, and professional events, and offer support for the development of startups and technology-oriented companies.

Description of technology transfer

VTP Brno, a.s. is an open entrepreneurial, community, and networking science and technology park focused on supporting collaboration among startups, innovative companies, experts, and other actors within innovation activities and SMART technologies. Its main goal is to facilitate knowledge sharing, support joint projects, and implement innovative approaches into practice, particularly in the areas of digital technologies, creative industries, and services.
VTP supports the development of human capital, networking, and the implementation of innovative approaches through:
-organizing conferences, workshops, and professional events for knowledge sharing;
-facilitating contacts and collaboration with educational institutions and experts;
-providing modern spaces, equipment, and expert support for startups and innovative companies;
-supporting pilot projects and technology demonstrations in real-world applications.
VTP Brno thus represents a complementary component of the regional innovation infrastructure, contributes to the development of innovations, and promotes the practical application of research and development results, in line with the objectives of the funded project.

Innovative entrepreneurship training

Education for innovative entrepreneurship is ensured through close cooperation with the Regional Development Agency of South Moravia, the Regional Chamber of Commerce of South Moravia, the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic and the regional branch of CzechInvest. As part of the preparation of experts for innovative business, we organize or participate in various seminars and workshops for established and external companies.

Advisory services

VTP Brno, a.s. offers a comprehensive service in technology transfer and in the area of project creation and management. It includes help in choosing a suitable subsidy program to support investments, including help in the complex processing of a project application, including advice in the awarding of public contracts. In addition, consulting services are provided for the business plans of start-up companies, subsidy consultancy and subsidy management, consultancy for the protection of intellectual property and venture capital.

Innovation infrastructure

Our science and technology park is based on the regional innovation strategy of the South Moravian Region and the statutory city of Brno for the period 2021-2027, which aims to increase the economic competitiveness of the entire South Moravia. This strategy also defines the sectors that are most prominently represented in the region and historically show the greatest potential for strengthening competitive advantage based on knowledge and innovation. These sectors are:
a) Software and services in IT
b) Instruments and devices for measuring and sensing
c) Advanced machines and engineering equipment (engines, turbines, hydraulic equipment, special production machines)
d) Instruments and devices for measuring and sensing
e) Advanced machines and engineering equipment
f) Energy engineering and electrical components (distribution devices, motors, generators)
g) Medical and pharmaceutical production, diagnostics
h) Aerospace (aeronautical and space technologies)
Taken through the lens of our science and technology park, from the point of view of the focus of the entities settled here, all the above-mentioned points are most relevant to us.
The strategic goals of RIS JMK include, for example:
• Creating a home for globally successful entrepreneurs with the aim of multiplying the number of people with a desire to do business, increase the number of dynamically growing companies, increase the number of companies capable of international expansion with their own product, expand the community and deepen the cooperation of local business leaders.
• To strengthen the cooperation of managers of innovative foreign corporations and their involvement in the development of the ecosystem.
• Encourage the use of skills through collaboration with practice.
• Strengthen the international attractiveness of research and education in profile fields and address the challenges of the contemporary world, strive to diversify the activities of global companies in the region for the use of the present knowledge potential.
• Increase the activity of local investors and investor clubs, form the background for the creation of business hubs.
• Mobilize the partnership of the best research teams with companies.
We believe that we also contribute to these selected strategic goals of RIS JMK through the activities of our science and technology park.

Cooperation with universities

Provision and offering of internships for students of Brno University of Technology (VUT Brno) within companies based in our Science and Technology Park. Mutual use of technological infrastructure and equipment is supported. We provide background materials and contact support for students working on bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral theses. University students are also offered facilities and support for the development of their startup activities. Potential partners offering internships, professional placements or student involvement in projects include, for example, Invenio – the National Centre for Talent Support, JINAG – the South Moravian Agency for Public Innovation, the South Moravian Regional Chamber of Commerce, and selected technology-oriented companies such as Flowbox s.r.o. and PIONS s.r.o.
