The 175th SPICE Meeting at the “Baltic Dynamics 2015” in Tartu, Estonia
The 175th SPICE Meeting at the “Baltic Dynamics 2015” in Tartu, Estonia began the day before the conference opened with aSPICE Dinner on September 17, 2014 that was hosted by Janis Stabulnieks in the famous restaurant “Werner” in Tartu’s Old Town.
After the conference was finished, SPICE Group members continued the meeting with a work session met in the Sports Hall of the University of Life Sciences. 10 participants from four countries discussed the main topic of this meeting “SPICE 25.0”, a concept for developing the network until and – more importantly after–- the 25th anniversary (in 2016). More information is available on the SPICE Group website (Chronicle) and there you also find a link to the photo page.
The discussion of the “Future of the SPICE Network” focused on following four topics
– Publication of “SPICE Position Papers” (short summaries of statements regarding business incubation activities. For example, on expectations incubator clients or incubator stakeholders could / should have towards business incubators; the role of and relation between different types of incubators
– Key Performance Indicators (KPI) that should be observed / published by business incubators. Ints Viksna and Rein Ruubel have committed to do first steps regarding the KPI matter. These topics are not the only ones to be talked about under the headline “SPICE 25.0”.
– Supporting more intense regional communication within the network by initiating local or regional sub-networks of SPICE Group (for example, like the SPICE BÄR Dinners in Berlin).
– Forming a team of “next generation” SPICE members (possibly complemented by invited non-members) to discuss what “SPICE 25.0” should mean regarding the use of different / additional communication means, forms of collaboration, activities in the networks or new organizational approaches.
All members are invited to
– contribute their thoughts and suggestions. What would you personally like SPICE Group to be and to do?
– contribute any report or data related with measuring and evaluating outcome and success of business incubation. Please, send such material (PDF files or web links) to Ints (iviksna@edi.lv) and Rein (rein.ruubel@novatum.eu ) – with a copy to SPICE Berlin (spice_25_0@spice-group.de) .
And, finally, two more issues that were talked about at the Baltic dynamics SPICE Meeting:
– the sad news that two European associations terminated their activities: UK Business incubation and TEKEL; Finland
– the good news that the upcoming SPICE G & G Workshop in Berlin (December 12+13, 2014) is finding much interest. Let us know, if your are interested to attend – we will provide further information soon
Looking forward to hearing from you soon again
with best personal regards from -today- sunny and relatively warm Berlin
Heinz & Larisa
